THAT’S SO 70’S | CROCHET GRANNY SQUARES

Ciao babes!! Finally adjusting to life in Italy – a little bit. I don’t think I would every fully adjust to every aspect of living in another country, but I’m enjoying the short stay. Today we went to Pitti Immagine in Florence where the theme this season was fashion meets film. The exhibit this weekend was all about yarn including a room full of ways to use yarn with the upcoming S/S 2019 trends. We went from there to Vintage Selection, a room of vendors selling vintage clothes, shoes, bags, sunglasses, etc.

My outfit today was slightly inspired by the fact that we were going to a yarn exhibition and slightly by the fact that I found retro 70’s granny square blankets at home before I left for Italy – which I am now obsessed with. I spotted this crochet top at Zara when I was in New York a couple weeks ago and knew it would be a perfect piece to style. Since its see through I’ve been layering it for now but in the summer it will be a perfect swimsuit coverup.

Looking to the runway, I saw Missoni use granny squares in their Pre-Fall 2018 collection in the form of a multi colored poncho. This trend is perfect for all seasons using looser knits for summer and tighter knits, with thicker yarn, for winter. For my outfit I wore a navy pinstripe jumpsuit from anthropologie, crochet top from Zara, Matisse western boots, Brixton fiddler hat, and vintage dior bag.
